Austin Parking Guide

About Austin: Austin is the capital of the U.S. state of Texas. Located in Central Texas on the eastern edge of the American Southwest, Austin is the 13th most populous city in the United States of America and the fourth most populous city in the state of Texas. Austin is the home to over 700,000 residents. A thick aura of music engulfs the city and gives way to the well-earned title of "The Live Music Capital of the World." Austin's residents, who are often referred to as "Austinites," are constantly basking in a temperate climate that is characterized by scorching summers and mild winters. It was the third-fastest-growing large city in the nation from 2000 to 2006.

Downtown is the up and coming urban area of Austin. One can enjoy live music, nightlife, museums, and restaurants along with a place for outdoor activities and of course, a great skyline in downtown Austin.

Many garages prohibit overnight parking - be sure to note each garage's policy. Valets throughout downtown will park your car in a garage for a similar charge.

Valet parking rates are roughly the same as garage parking rates, with the added bonus of convenience and quicker access to your destination. Hours of operation vary by station - be sure to check this. Valet parking benefits everyone who comes downtown. Each night, using two or three on-street parking spaces, valets can receive dozes of cars and move them into garages, many of which are not open to the general public.
