About San Antonio San Antonio is the seventh most populous city in the United States of America and the second most populous city in the state of Texas. San Antonio was named for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is on June 13, when a Spanish expedition stopped in the area in 1691. San Antonio has a strong military presence.

Parking in San Antonio The Department of Downtown Operations Parking Division operates, maintains and enforces all on-street parking meters and off-street parking spaces under the City's control in downtown San Antonio. The parking space inventory consists of 6,472 parking spaces in surface lots and multi level garages, 2,040 regular parking meters and 60 Event Meters for events at the Alamodome.
These 134 new, solar-powered parking pay stations service multiple parking spaces and reduce clutter on streets and sidewalks. In addition, parking pay stations accept both coins and debit/credit cards and provide customers with a receipt for every transaction.

Parking for disabled The City of San Antonio offers free short term parking (24 hours or less) at its downtown parking facilities for those individuals who have a state issued disabled parking permit or special state issued plates. The free short term parking is only available at city operated lots, garages, meters, and pay stations.
